Dear Blog,

I've been neglecting you. I'm sorry.

I have wanted a Wii Fit for a very long time. Like pretty much as long as they've been out. And I'm so excited because a couple from our church is letting us borrow theirs! They said they haven't been using it (like at all!) and so we can keep it as long as we want. =) That makes me happy. And it does give you a work out! I tried all the yoga and strength and hula hoop and all that...and my goodness. I felt like my knees were attached to my ankles by a too-short rubberband...SO SORE!! That was Monday. It's better now. Thank goodness. But I love being able to "work out" and not have to leave my house. I guess I'm just lazy like that. =)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Right now my family is gearing up for a celebration. What are we celebrating, you might ask? My graduation! Saturday is the big day...which means a ton of cleaning, rearranging, cleaning, crying. Oh wait, not that last one. Hopefully.
My mom wanted to make a slideshow of pictures of me from since I was born to now. So I am dutifully scanning in a BUNCH of pictures. It's kind of a pain, but hey. I always do what my mom says, right? =) Here's a couple of my favorites:
Me & my daddy. I think this was the day I came home from the hospital.
Me & my mommy. =) I was 13. People have asked if we're twins.
My dad went to FSU, and I guess I was the cheerleader! =)
This is my sweet cousin and I several years ago at Christmastime...
And here we are just a couple of weeks ago! We've both grown up quite a bit. =)
There are sooooo many more pictures I'd love to share, but it will have to wait for another day, I guess.
I Have a Thing for Classical
I love classical music. I really do. It might be mostly because I play the piano, and I play a lot of classical pieces. Or because I'm just weird like that.
Anyway, my Spring Recital is coming up in about 3 weeks. And I am deathly afraid that I'm going to fail miserably.
This is the piece that I'm supposed to be playing (don't feel too obligated to listen to the whole thing):
(And please ignore the fact that it's being played by some one 10 years younger than me.)
The problem is, we're leaving to go to West Virginia on May 10th. We will be back 2 days before
my recital. No piano lesson that week means I will already be freaking out. And the worst part is
that my grandparents don't have a piano, so I won't even be able to practice!!
It's okay, Jaquelyn. Just keep breathing...
I wish I could play like this (minus the weird possessed looking movements). But they've been
playing since they were 3, so I guess I can't complain too much. Maybe.
Embracing the Writer
If you asked me if I was a writer, I would probably say no. Or that I wish I were. But not really a writer, am I.
I'm not Yoda, either, fortunately.
I'll be honest with you now. I have never done an "official" English curriculum. Never. And yet if you asked people I know, they would probably call me a "word nerd", or some such thing. My friends know that I love big words and I'm a stickler for spelling.
Oh, and did I mention that the reason I've never done an English curriculum is because I'm homeschooled? That's why. If I went to school, I doubt I could have ducked something so important. =)
When I was younger, my mom would read to me. She still tries, but I hate being read to, I only like it when I'm doing the reading. Anyway, she would always read me good books. And my writing assignments usually involved our big book of Norman Rockwell pictures. I would find a picture that I thought was interesting and write a page or two about it. Mom would check my work and correct spelling, punctuation and such. I remember I was soooo thrilled the day she did not find a single mistake in my work. =) I wanted to learn to write cursive after one of my favorite babysitter's wrote me a note in cursive. And I did it by myself! I was an odd child...
I didn't really like writing that much when I was younger. Now? Totally different story. I still may not call myself a writer, but I do love writing. To me, it's kind of a release.
I also journal. Not quite daily, but often enough. When I was 12/13 I had a little diary, but I eventually quit writing in it because I felt like I only wrote stupid things. Like "We went to the beach today. It was fun. I got sunburned." and "I wonder if Hayden likes me?" However, a couple of years ago, Hayden (who does like me very much, coincidentally) suggested that I pick up journaling again, if only to have the memories. He keeps saying he's going to read my journal when we're old and gray, but I'm not so sure about it. I can write some pretty scathing things in that journal of mine. But now I love to journal because I can express my feelings in a way that keeps me from getting in trouble (most of the time) and I can remember special time in my life that I might not remember otherwise.
And then I decided to try my hand at being an author. As in writing a book. I'm not sure I'll ever finish. But it has been started. I emailed the portion I've finished to a friend, and he absolutely loved it. If I ever finish it, I'll be sure to let you know
And now my writing has moved on to the blogosphere. I love blogging probably just as much as I love journaling. It's a way to write about how I feel, and meet new friends along the way. I just have to get over the feeling that I have to write something utterly brilliant or it's not worth posting.
So, I may not say I'm a writer. But that quality is there somewhere. We'll see where it takes me in life.
(Here's a special sneak peek of my story)
She had heard the story often. Yet the young queen listened, contentedly glancing around the room. The dark stone walls felt ominous, but the brightly embroidered tapestries warmed the room considerably, both in temperature and atmosphere.
She caught Stephan’s eye as the bard continued. He smiled, the same warm smile that was always hers. Her brother, though older by 10 years, was her best friend, and she always delighted in seeing him.
Elaina sighed, thinking of happier years. Years when her brother lived nearby, in the same castle, always happy to help. But now he lived far away in Fengal, using his strong leadership skills there instead.
Now she was Westin’s ruler. And she and Stephan would do whatever it took to keep their countries united.
As she turned her mind back to reality, she suddenly realized which tale the bard was telling. She had been so lost in thought that she hadn’t noticed the change in stories. She smiled. This was her favorite. The beautiful young maiden who rescued her people with the aid of the great dragons.
How often had Elaina dreamed of these graceful teachers? She couldn’t remember the first time she had heard their stories. She wished she could call on some dragons right now. They would certainly be helpful.
The unity between Fengal and Westin was crumbling. Elaina and Stephan had seen it coming, but felt helpless to stop what was happening.
She's 5!!
5 years ago from yesterday...
This cute little bundle entered my life. =) I thought I would only ever have 3 younger sisters, but boy am I glad to have the 4th!
We have good times together.
(We decided just finger-painting was too boring!)
And now she's 5! I asked her yesterday if she felt an different, and (shocker!) she didn't. =) She had 3 of her friends over for a little party after church, and they had a really good time. Happy Birthday (a day late), Katheryn!
Because I have no time anymore...
I feel so stretched out right now. My computer time goes by way too fast, and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it. Oh well. So, here's to another completely random jumbling of what's in my brain right now!
This week has been...long. A little boring. Though not as boring as last week, when I was sick and went absolutely nowhere.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I was very happy when I went to the library on Wednesday. I am a voracious reader. I started writing down all the books I've read in January 2006. To this day, the count is...Well, actually I don't know, and I don't have time to go count it. But trust me, it's a lot. I'm not trying to brag. I'm usually tired all of the time because I stay up late reading every night.

Anyway, I love the library, but I don't always like it. Because every time I'm looking for a specific book, they NEVER HAVE IT!! I'm serious. It's really annoying to me. I started reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series months ago, but I hadn't been able to get past the 3rd book--they never had them! So when I went on Wednesday and saw that they had the next FIVE!!! Major excitement. I can be so nerdy about my books. I'll stop now. =)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My sweet baby sister is turning 5 tomorrow. I can hardly believe it. It seems like not that long ago she was a tiny baby, but that was 5 years ago! I'm planning on posting tomorrow with some pictures and such, but for now here's one of us 5 years ago, just a couple of days after she was born.
I think I was really weird when I was 13. =)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And to close on a happy note (that all Starbucks lovers will appreciate), you could win a $15 Starbucks giftcard! I had one of their bottled frappucinos today, yum! And I desperately wanted some Caramel Macchiatto ice cream, but I couldn't afford it. Anyway, go try to win here by April 26th!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I need to work on writing a more brilliant post, and I need to do it soon.
All's Quiet on the Blog Front
I have approximately 2 minutes left on the computer. I'm going to try to peck this out real quickly.
Anyway, all may be quiet on the blog front for a little while. Between the emails I need to catch up on, and the cards I need to list on the shop, and the blogs I need to go visit, and the pictures I need to scan in for my senior slideshow, and the game I need to prepare for a meeting tomorrow night, and the application I have to finish by tonight, and the mom who keeps yelling for me to finish my chore, and the grandma who lectured me about "actually doing something" with my life, and the piano I need to practice...
*sigh* I don't have a lot of time.
So I'll leave you with this picture of Katheryn & I from yesterday. I look a little weird, but that's okay. She was happy about her new dress. =)
Latest Project: The Birthday Dress
I've had some pretty purple butterfly material on hand for about a month and a half. Hayden's oldest sister (who is also my friend) gave me some fabric when she came to visit, but before now I couldn't think of anything fabulous to use it for.
But I decided on Monday night that I was going to attempt to make Katheryn a dress. I knew kind of how to do it, but when I sew, I pretty much eyeball and guess and hope--I don't do well with patterns, for some reason. So I was a little afraid it wouldn't turn out. However....
(Drumroll, please.)
Not to sound prideful, but it is an adorable dress. =) I even got some cute purple buttons to sew on:
The fabric is really thin, so I ended up doing 2 layers and a cute (I think) tiered hem line.
(You can see it better in this picture)
And my sweet little sister is turning 5 on Sunday, so she's deemed this her birthday dress. Except she keeps changing her mind and then being upset with me for not letting her wear it. =)
And the winner is...
I was planning on ending this giveaway right around lunch time, because that's usually when I get on the computer. However, today I went to the beach and I just got home...
(Pardon as I don my best game-show-announcer voice)
Did you know I ended up with 204 comments on my giveaway post?! I never expected so many! I was thinking I would get like 50...So thanks soooo much to every one who commented, tweeted, blogged, followed, and whatever else. Thanks for making my 100th post celebration a blast! =D
And without further ado...
I plugged in the numbers on random.org, and the number was 164.
Congratulations to Doreen
I think I will probably do another giveaway sometime, I just don't know when...So stay tuned!
Notes on Comments & Followers
This post is for everyone who follows my blog or has ever left me a comment.
I know that in the unwritten "rules" of blog-etiquette, it is polite to return comments. Right? (If I'm wrong, you can stop reading right here) And oh, how I would love to. Right now there are 190 comments on my giveaway post. As much as I would like to thank each and every one of you personally, it just isn't feasible.
Mainly because I only get 30 minutes on the computer a day.
So between my blog, Twitter, my Gmail account and all my "real-life" friends I email from my Yahoo account...30 minutes doesn't go very far.
I hope you can all forgive me.
Oh, and thanks to all the kind comments on my decisions post. I think I may have figured out what I'm doing, but I'll post about that another time.
As to all the wonderful 52 people who follow this blog, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! (Can you tell I'm excited!) I love blogging no matter how many people read, but the more readers, the more I feel like writing. =)
What I would really like would be to visit each and every one of you, sip some coffee, and discuss our lives. This would be done vicariously through the blog world, of course, but it still counts. =)
My plan is, to take a small break from writing my blog, and go on a blog-hopping vacation--to visit all of you! I won't be completely absent, because the giveaway ends on Monday and I'm dying to see who'll win, but I'd like to visit each and every one of you 52. You know, I could visit one of you every week for the next year...
But that would take too long.
So be on the lookout. It may be your blog I visit someday very soon! =)
Hmmm...Maybe I'll do a little post everyday about who I visit. I don't know. It all depends on how far I can stretch my 30 minutes.
"I'm programmed for neatness."
Right now Jessica and I are watching the 2nd season of the original Get Smart. We got all 5 seasons for Christmas. I love Maxwell Smart. The title quote is what Heime the robot says to Max when he complains about all the cleaning up Heime's doing in "Anatomy of a Lover". To which Max responds:
"Well, I'm programmed for sloppiness. And I like it that way."
I'm with you, Max. You should see my bedroom and my crafting desk right now. Actually, you don't want to see it. It's pretty bad.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I was kind of hoping that when I woke up this morning, I would be (somewhat) miraculously healed from this miserable cold. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Although I do feel better than I did on Wednesday & yesterday. My hopes of being better for Easter are not looking so good. I guess we'll just have to see.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On an up note, look what was brought home for me on Wednesday night:
Yep. A new Vera Bradley purse. =) Of course, now I'll have to switch back and forth between this one and the one Hayden gave me. This one (a Hipster in Caffe Latte) is a present from my grandparents for Easter. Definitely wasn't expecting it, and definitely won't turn it down! =)
And I'll add that Hayden thinks I have way too many purses. But I only really have 4. I used to have like 20. And 3 of the 4 are Vera Bradley, the 4th was a birthday present. So I'm not giving them away. Even if Hayden does think I have too many purses. =)
Decisions, Decisions...
I've been thinking a lot lately. (Look out, that could get dangerous!)
For a long time, I've known what I wanted in life. My only goal was to get married, have kids, and be the best mom ever. And that's still what I want! Because mom's are the coolest thing ever. =) But I'm only 18. That's not going to happen right now. As much as I would like it to.
So my big dilemma is...what now? And I mean right now. Other than blogging. Honestly, I feel like my life is boring. Want to know what my day is like? I wake up late, do pretty much nothing except exist until lunchtime, get on the computer, have family devotions, make cards throughout the day, practice piano when I remember...I don't know. It just seems purpose-less. And it's kind of my own fault. Because I could be doing things, but I usually choose not to. Oops.
I've been considering getting a job. My first choice is Bath & Body Works. =) Mainly because there's one 5 minutes away from my house. First off, though, I'm not sure if my dad would let me. Secondly, I don't know if they're hiring. =)
I'm also facing a dilemma when it comes to my plans for the summer. For the past 5 years, my summers have been completely filled with Christian Youth In Action (you can read about it here), teaching Bible clubs for kids. I was fully intending on going back this summer. Until now. I won't lie. God and I are not on the best of terms right now. All the reasons I come up with have to do with how much I'll miss my friends if I don't go. Which isn't really a good reason to go.
Have I ever mentioned that I'm a very indecisive person?
It's a Starbucks Thing
I have mentioned several times just how much I love Starbucks. Maybe more than several. Hmm...how many times have I mentioned Starbucks in my last 106 posts? Let's see...
  1. 10 Things
  2. The Full Story...or Most of it. (Starbucks chocolate, but Starbucks, nonetheless.)
  3. These are a Few of My Favorite Things...
  4. Good Coffee, Good Friend, Good Times
  5. Looong Day!
  6. Thankfulness Goes a Long Way
  7. Sick is Not Fun
Okay, so not as many times as I could have mentioned my love for Starbucks. Anyway, I know that I am not the only Starbucks lover out there. So I'm spreading the word about a chance to win a $15 Starbucks giftcard! I don't blog about every giveaway I enter, but I want as many chances as possible to win some free Starbucks! So go enter here if you would like some free Starbucks, too! =)
Sick is Not Fun
So, if my Twitter followers noticed last night, I tweeted several times about my sore throat. I wish it had stayed a sore throat. It has now warped into a full blown cold. Oh, how I detest being sick. I really do. Although it did mean that I got to sleep in late and my sisters had to do my chores for today...So maybe it was worth it. I guess that depends on how long I'll be sick for. Actually, I think I'd just rather not be sick. I don't handle pain (or sickness) well.
So I've been kind of bumming around all day. I played Wii Sports for 20 minutes and completely wore myself out. Pathetic, huh? Now the family is at church & I'm watching Saving Sarah Cain as I type. Love it. =)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Katheryn is a very comical 4 year old. I mean, she really is. It probably partially stems from the fact that she has 4 older sisters instead of sisters closer to her own age. I think she picks up a lot of more "mature" (not in a bad way, of course) things from us.

Oh, and for all my new followers who may not know, Katheryn is not my daughter. She's my younger sister. But there are 13 years between us, so sometimes I do feel more like her mother than her sister.

Anyway, we went on a walk on Monday night; I was walking, but Katheryn was riding her little tricycle. The whole way around the block, she was singing. But she wasn't singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, or her ABC's, or Old McDonald. She was singing songs from old musicals. We watch a lot of old musicals, and she picks up on the songs really easily. It just makes me laugh.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Any fellow cute-sock-lovers out there? I found some really cute ones at Target yesterday. =)
I just couldn't pass them up. They were only $1 a piece, and I've been needing some new socks. And it doesn't get much easier to match than that! =)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And last, but certainly not least...

Look what I got! Thanks so much to Jenn over at My Life With the Crazies. The rules are, to list 7 things that you love and then award 7 other bloggers. So here we go...

Go visit & leave some comment love!

Giveaways! (but not mine...)

I think I've already mentioned that I love giveaways. Maybe more than once. But hey. Who doesn't love winning free stuff!? Seriously, if there is anyone, I don't know what their problem is.

Anyway, since many people give extra entries if you blog about their giveaways, here's some I'm hoping to win. Don't enter them, though, so I have more of a chance!

(Just kidding. Go enter.)

A Giveaway A Day. How cool is that. I wish I could be the winner every day. But oh well. Anyway...today Liz is giving away a super cute wallet, and you get to pick the fabric! I've been wanting a new wallet, so I'm hoping to win. And crossing my fingers. This one's only open until tomorrow noon (CST), so go enter here!

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I like Crocs. I think they're super comfortable. And you could win any pair you want (up to $50)! Go check it out here! Ends 4/10.

A Psych Mommy is giving away a  basket of Happeez products valued at $75 from Mayfair Lane. I had never heard of this company before, but I looked at their site, and they have some super cute stuff! If you've never heard of it either, go take a look at the giveaway! Ends 4/9 at midnight.

I'm always looking for new inspiration for my cards, so I'd love to win this $30 gift card to The Angel Company. It ends 4/13 at noon.

Viva Woman is giving away a bunch of goodies for their April giveaway! Makeup, a cute little pouch, a pretty necklace, a key fob...go see here! This ends 4/17 at midnight.

I didn't personally enter this giveaway, since I don't wear makeup, but I'm sure some of you would love some mineral makeup!

The Big Piece of Cake is giving away an adorable spring bag! Enter here!

Have you tried any of Dove's Go Fresh line? I'd love to try it, but can't really spend the money to buy a bunch of it. So I just want to win this giveaway

I think this giveaway is super cool and fun. And it reminds me that I need to pray for Roy as he battles cancer.

Whew! That was more work than I anticipated...I'd love to make this longer, but I'm out of patience. =) Let me know which giveaway you'd love to win!

*edited to add* Found another good one! You have 5 chances to enter and you could win some super cool bath stuff! =) Go enter here!

Oh, and even though I said it wasn't my giveaway in the title, I can't resist mentioning it. =) I'm so excited about the 161 comments there already. If you haven't entered yet, you can do it here. And I'm one of those people who gives 3 extra entries if you link to me on your blog! Just make sure you leave a comment at the original post for it to count for extra entries. =)

Athleticism does not run in our family...

I've never been very athletic. I wish I were. Then maybe I would be skinnier. But really, I've just never been very athletic. My mom told me fairly recently that she would giggle at me when she saw me out running around trying to keep up with all my little friends. I just about cried. Thanks, Mom.

When I was probably about 8, my cousins and I were going to play basketball on one of the homeschool teams. My cousins are all boys, but it didn't bother me. There were other girls on the team. But none quite like me, apparently.

I quit basketball the first day. I'm not sure I really ever told anyone the real reason why. I was a strange and very shy child. When we did jumping jacks, my shirt kept bouncing up and showing my stomach. It was just too much for my 8 year old psyche to handle. I ran off the court crying and never went back.

Looking back on that now? I feel kind of stupid. But hey, it was 10 years ago.

My parents were both really athletic in their day. My sisters are pretty athletic. It just seemed to skip me, or something. I got the curly hair from my mom, the lovely oily complexion from my dad, but none of the athleticism.

It really doesn't bother me too much. Except for my complete inability to play volleyball.

Hayden isn't really that athletic either, but at least he can get the ball over the net when we play volleyball! He's the computer geek person. One of my friends was telling me that they kind of laugh at the 2 of us because our kids probably won't be very athletic. So this is what they said out kids would do...

"They may not be athletic, but they will be able to build their own computer and even make a quilted case for it!"

Oh. My. Goodness. I laughed so hard, because it's soooo true!

Maybe we'll have one athletic kid to redeem us from our inability. =)

Cutie =)

Isn't he cute? =) I think so, at least. Hayden said he looked like an emo kid in this pic, but I think he looks too cheerful. Or something. =)

Pardon me while I freak out...

I'm not super good with handling things that stress me out. And lots of things stress me out, even when they shouldn't. So pardon my freak out moment...or hour. Or something.

Today was the last day of co-op. My class did painting today, and I had to rush and clean up so the next class could start up. With only 5 minutes between each class, that's somewhat of a feat. I am shocked that I didn't get acrylic paint all over me. It was only on my arm.

Usually I get out of co-op by 11:40, at the latest. Today, however, I went to hear Katheryn sing American/patriotic songs with her Kindergarten class. And then she had to go to the bathroom. And then I had to climb all the way in the back to buckle her carseat. And then she spilled her ice cream in her car seat. I was completely freaking out by the time I got home. At 12:30.

I'm better now. I calmed down. I just had a few freak out moments.

The one good thing was that all of the kids in my class gave me sweet thank you cards. And one even gave me a rose! =) That made me happy. =)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you have a few minutes, you should watch this. It's hilarious! We watched it in class today. =)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I just want to give a big thanks to everyone who's entered my giveaway. It's very exciting for me!
I'd love to go through and visit EVERYONE and leave some comment love, but I don't have much
time on the computer every day, so I might not get the chance. So...(and you know who you are)
thanks so much for all the comments!! If you haven't entered yet, you can scroll down or the link is in
the box to the right. =)

I Love When I Have Cool Ideas

As you may know, I make cards. I really love making them. But sometimes I feel the need to branch out, to make something a little out of the ordinary. I needed to make a thank you card for my teacher at co-op, and so here's what I came up with.

This is the front. I'm planning on writing her name on the white paper:

Then, you flip it over. It's folded together, and it looks a little like a flower, but with only 4 petals:

Open it up...

And this is what the inside looks like!

The middle opens up into a mini card with room to write my message:

I think it turned out really nicely. I might have to make some similar ones to sell on the shop. =)

100!! and a giveaway...

::CLOSED::

Oh, how I love a good giveaway. Doesn't everyone? =) And I love blogging, so what better way to celebrate my 100th post? I'm excited about this. Ready to see what I'm giving away?

I really am excited about this. If you've read my blog at all, you've probably noticed how much I like Bath & Body Works and Vera Bradley. So I can pass on the love! =)

First up, Coconut Lime Verbena shower gel! It smells sooo yummy! I was seriously considering keeping it for myself. But I'm not.

And a cute little Vera Bradley pouch! Sorry, but I can't remember what this pattern is called...Anyone know? I've been hanging on to it for a while, just waiting for a good use. Anyway, this would be perfect to keep money in, or lip gloss, or the next item in the giveaway...

Mineral makeup from LaLaBloom! I think mineral makeup is super cool, but I don't wear makeup. There is a mineral eyeshadow in Merlot and Berry Bronze Balm. I think the colors are gorgeous!

So, would you like to win this fun set? The rules are pretty simple. To enter, simply leave me a comment! But please, make it fun! Tell me something about yourself, something you like about my blog, something you like about blogging in general, a fun piece of trivia...Just think of something creative!
