favorite musicals {Seven Brides for Seven Brothers}

This is an all-time favorite of mine.
I've seen it SO many times.
And I can still sit down and watch it, and love it.

I love Howard Keel.
I love that the brothers are named alphabetically from the Bible:
Adam, Benjamin, Caleb, Daniel, Ephraim, Frank(incense), Gideon.
I love the scene when Gideon is trying to lure Alice outside and meows like a cat.
I love the dance right before they raise the barn.

If you haven't seen it, you are missing out. :)

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, 1954
starring: Howard Keel, Jane Powell
favorite songs: Bless Your Beautiful Hide, Goin' Courtin', Lonesome Polecat, Sobbin' Women
did you know? Jeff Richards (Benjamin) was a former professional baseball star. Julie Newmar (Dorcas; Benjamin's bride) went on to play Catwoman in the 1960's TV version of Batman.

Have you seen Seven Brides for Seven Brothers? What did you enjoy the most about it?

I found information about this movie on Wikipedia.

I love it too! Especially when the guys kidnap all the girls. I haven't it seen it in a couple years, so I may have to rent it soon! Never burn the soundtrack onto your iPod, though. It will get old really fast on shuffle!

On an un-related, but ruffled note: I'm having a Gussy giveaway on my blog if you'd like to enter! :-) Everyone loves Gussy!

What a great musical!

I was in 7 Brides back when I was in High School so it brings back a lot of great memories :)

What do I like the most? Benjamin. So hot. Even though he never dances and stands off to the side in all the fight scenes.

"Oh they say when you marry in June....."

I love love love this movie! It is my favorite, and though my husband may not admit it, his favorite musical. He is a big broad shouldered red-headed guy who wants to be a backwoodsman so bad :) i love it.
