holding onto this season of Thanksgiving

it seems like Thanksgiving gets overlooked more & more every single year.
oh, Halloween is over, let's get out the Christmas stuff!
(and even before Halloween is over, sheesh!)
don't get me wrong, i love Christmas.
i love it SO much. it's my favorite time of the year!

BUT, Thanksgiving is so important.
it's so easy to become complacent about gratitude,
and the reminder to be thankful is so needed.

beautiful card found here

all my Fall decorations are out.
pumpkins & gourds are still set out around the house.
i just finished making a beautiful wreath over the weekend.
reminders of the Fall season and just how much i have to be grateful for.

>> what are you thankful for today?

by the way, if you're already pulling out your Christmas stuff, I'll still love you! ;)

I was shocked when my husband asked me a few days before Halloween if I would be decorating for Thanksgiving this year (since I went easy on Halloween this year with our busy, busy lives!) and of course the answer was yes! I LOVE THANKSGIVING! It is such a meaningful holiday and season that we need to just stop and examine! I just decorated my mantle today and love looking at it. It's our little family tradition to spend the four day Thanksgiving weekend decorating for Christmas, and I plan on never doing it a single day earlier!

Ha ha I totally took out my Christmas decorations this weekend just to take stock of things! Even though I'm Canadian and we had our thanksgivin before Halloween I agree that Christmas seems to come really early. A week before Halloween the grocery store had Christmas decorations out!

I totally agree with you. I think it shows where we are as a nation too. Have fun, glorify the chaos but leave out the Thanksgiving(I just realized how harsh that sounds. I don't mean it that way). But I do agree that we need to take a step back and take the time to be thankful. We're so blessed and we take it for granted:)

My Christmas stuff isn't out yet, but I'm totally listening to Christmas music on the sly. I can't HELP it!

PS I am loving that beautiful Give Thanks card - thanks for linking to it! :)
