Hi! My name is Alissa and I blog over at Rags to Stitches. I'm married to the love of my life and we've been together for almost 7 years. In that time we've had our fair share of adventures and I'm so excited for the many more to come. My career began as an elementary and middle school teacher and shifted after the birth of our beautiful baby girl Miss K in 2008. Miss K is now two and a half and is one of the most precious joys of our lives. Her smile and laughter can brighten anyone's day. In late 2009 we were blessed with another bundle of joy, who we lovingly refer to as Buddy. He is my sensitive, cuddle bug and already looks up to his sister. Being 17 months apart, I'm not going to lie, they keep me on my toes, but I'd rather dance around on my toes all day, then miss a single moment with them.

Rags to Stitches Boutique, the shop, was born in 2009. I had begun sewing when I was pregnant with Miss K. You know that constant urge to create, organize and nest.... well that's where it started for me. A self-taught sewer, not perfect, but learning, I began sewing things for my little girl and suddenly others began asking me if I would make those things for them. First it was burp cloths and nursing cover ups, then wipes cases and infant car seat canopies. After some nudging from my husband, the loving entrepreneur, I created Rags to Stitches. I could have never imagined it would grow into the business it has and I'm so blessed to be a work at home mom.

How do you find inspiration for your work?
Lately I've been finding a lot of inspiration on Pinterest. I find colors, styles, words of inspiration that spark new ideas to create. My biggest passion though is my blog. I love sharing my family's adventures.

{handmade gift exchange!}

I was able to participate in the handmade gift exchange again
{you can see my December gift here!}, and I think it's so much fun!
Creating something pretty to send off to a new friend is something I really enjoy. ;)
Many thanks to Linda for being a lovely hostess!

I was partnered with Danielle, and I wanted to send her
something pretty that she could enjoy all summer long.
I'll admit, I forgot to snap a picture of the gift I sent,
but it's very similar to this clutch:

I hope she loves it!

Here's what Danielle sent me:

a super cute key chain {I love these!} and a sweet embellished tea towel.
I know I'll get a lot of use out of these pretties!
Thanks so much, Danielle. :)

{sponsors!}

You may have noticed a few new buttons on the sidebar this week...
---------------------->

That's right, The Sweetest Petunia is now accepting a
limited number of sponsors each month!

I've decided against charging money for these spots,
and instead doing an ad swap {like Laura}.
That way, we both win!

UPDATE : spot is filled! Thanks, ladies. ;)
I still have one spot open for July, so please email me if you're interested!
{first come, first served}

And stay tuned to hear more about these lovely ladies, Alissa & Laura. ;)

{color love} another guest post!

Hi! My name is Jessica, I write the blog Domesticated Bliss and I recently became acquainted with pinterest. I have to say it makes collecting images for blogs IMMENSELY easier. And I am now positively addicted :) If you would like to join the cult I mean club! send me an email (jessica (at) domesticated-bliss (dot) com) and I'll send you an invite!

Anywhoo, Jacky recently asked if anyone wanted to volunteer to do one of her {color love} posts and I absolutely wanted to participate since I not only love Jacky's blog, but I also love these posts! It provides inspiration and gets my creative juices flowing.

Now, why did I choose Magenta you ask? Well, it's just an awesome color. Absolutely one of my fave colors and it just struck my fancy! I hope you enjoy this journey through magenta as much as I enjoyed pulling these random pictures together!

Oh and if you want to learn more about me check me out here!

{pamper yourself}

Joining in on Gussy's Inspiration Workshop again today...

Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop!

*****

I stumbled across this photo on Pinterest this morning, and I love it.
There's nothing I would rather do to pamper myself than to curl up with a good book & a cup of coffee.
Perfection.

How do you pamper yourself?
